I found an oversized shirt that came down to mid-thigh and pulled it over my head, pleased to find a cure for my nakedness. I would need some proper clothes and some underwear. For the moment I had neither and I felt unpleasantly exposed as I waited for her to emerge from the shower and tell me what we were doing next. I sat on the bed, looking towards the bathroom door like a dog anticipating the arrival of its owner. That was what my life had boiled down to, sitting around waiting on Scarlett to direct me this way or that. I was no longer in control of my choices. I was no longer in control of anything.
