Long time readers of this blog will be familiar with the recent issues with earthquakes knocking down half the city and then making it very difficult to get it rebuilt. It’s only been a couple months since we were standing on the Port Hills at 2am to avoid a potential tsunami… and now those same hills are on fire. Have been for two days, but we’ve just gotten around to declaring a state of emergency. Didn’t want to rush things I guess. I asked my partner what we’d do if there was another tsunami warning while the fire is still burning out of control.
He smiled and said proudly: “We’ll just go halfway up the hills – between a rock and a hard place.”
So we’ve got that potential problem sorted anyway.
